It's a bit thin, but no dirt comes out of the towel itself. I washed it, but no dirt came off on my black clothes. I had a lot of trouble with the towels I bought before because even after washing them repeatedly, dirt kept coming out. I'm grateful that this one doesn't produce any dirt at all.
