Wow, it really zooms! It's a bit noisy so some cats may not like it. Ours find it fascinating and like to chase it, but not grab it (yet). There are 3 settings: fast (blue light, really zips around & loud), slow (purple, the most friendly setting & quieter) and "interactive" (yellow-green, randomly fast & slow). Press the power button once to turn it on, then quickly press on & off again to go to next setting, then repeat for next. I recommend starting on purple. The rope tail is better than silicone ones i've seen elsewhere because the cat can't chew chunks off it. One thing though, and this may be where complaints about this toy come from: the charging cable sucks. It'll work once or twice, but it's not enough, even if you plug in it a long time. I used our own quick-charge white cable and it charges fine. If it doesn't light up red when you plug it in, it's not charging.
